College Thesis Virtual Frontier

"What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain."
                                                              - Morpheus, The Matrix

The virtual and physical worlds are separated only by three of the five principal human senses. While some view virtual reality as a “fake reality”, I push the viewer to consider it a different genre of reality. Bottles that can be interacted with in the virtual space can be seen, held, and heard just the same in physical space, so what makes a virtual bottle fake compared to that of a resin-printed replica?

The Virtual Frontier invites you to enter into the digital world of an old 8-bit style
Western arcade machine. The 80s-style arcade cabinet and new age VR headset are juxtaposed as an homage to my interest in the exponential advancement of technology. Within the space, 8-bit pixels are visualized as voxels, the three-dimensional equivalent of a pixel, creating a retro-3D
aesthetic. This stylization is partnered with Wild West motifs, signifying the limitless possibilities of virtual reality. Explore, interact with, and share the experience of the virtual western scene.
